MAGIC BLOG TOUR - Overnight Bag by Blue House Joys

I'm so excited to finally start this blog tour with you. Every week, I will be sharing various projects made with the MAGIC fabric that came out this summer! Bags, quilts, clothing, it's all covered.

Today I'm sending you over to visit Terri with Blue House Joys with this overnight bag that is to die for!

The MAGIC fabric collection (you can see the lookbook here and the collection here) of course like all my collections, has a border print (two actually) and this bag features the border print so well! It's such a statement for an overnight bag like this.

MAGIC also has larger prints for fussying around for piecing like this I LOVE YOU TO THE STARS (and other phrases printed in gold) that make for such lovely personalization as well.

So head on over to get the TUTORIAL AND PATTERN HERE.

Thanks so much Terri, and thank you for coming along! We have projects lined up all the way through October!

catalog cover no text.jpg

This is REALLY exciting news you guys! I really am just giddy about this.

Michael miller Fabrics is bringing back a "BEST OF SARAH JANE" Fabric collection next spring! I currently have 4 fabric collections that are MOSTLY out of print...there are a few pieces here and there that you can still get. But for the most part, CHILDREN AT PLAY, OUT TO SEA, LET'S PRETEND and WEE WANDER is mostly hard to find. Children at Play was released over 5 years ago, and WEE WANDER was released almost 3 years ago. And it's time to bring them back. I've been getting emails and comments from you all for so long....and Michael Miller Fabrics has heard your pleas:)

Because there are SO many prints, and SO many options, we want to here from YOU in the survey below. What are your favorites that you MUST have back? Which colors do you love best? We will be printing originals, as well as new colors, and I am just so excited.

The survey will have you check boxes of which prints are your favorite. I don't want to take too much of your time, so it's a pretty simple survey. But it's important to us that we here from you! Share with your friends, and spread the word:)

Here are some pointers:

1) You can check as many as you like

2) PLEASE be thoughtful, and really check the ones you want most to come back, instead of checking all of them for instance:)

3) At the end there is a place for you to write whatever you want...any input you'd like to add!

So take the survey! We want to hear what you are DYING to see back in stock. Thank you so much for your input. Scroll down at the bottom of this post for the survey link. Thanks again!! We are just as excited as you are.

These images are in the survey, but you can view them here as well:

Sommer Dress Challenge Winners

I'm so excited to announce the Winners for the Sommer Dress Challenge! Forgive me for how long it's taken. We went on vacation after the announcement on Social Media, but I realized I realized I haven't posted properly about it!

After I tallied up all the dresses posted to Instagram, Facebook, as well as entries emailed to me, I was BLOWN AWAY by them all! There were well over 100 entries (and many entries had multiple dresses, which of course didn't matter for entering purposes) but there were so many dresses to look through! I am seriously so amazed.

Well into the submission process, I changed the judging rules to choosing the winner at random because I knew I couldn't fairly judge and choose a top three. It was literally impossible. With hundreds of dresses, and many of them superbly made and photographed, I decided to narrow the dresses to a handful of the best ones, and choose three winners from that pool of top choices.

Each entry received a small prize, so if you entered, and by chance didn't get the notice via email, instagram or Facebook, please contact me and I will get you your winnings:)

First place goes to Jennifer Taylor of  Lillian Kate Custom Clothing. Aren't these dresses adorable? And those Texas bluebells couldn't be more perfect. i love the gingham and floral combination!

Second place goes to Christina Gossard of A Spoolfull of Sugar with this lovely dress made from Tangled Tulips and the painted Gingham. Those pockets and a matching adorable!

Third place goes to Carrie Steed with these adorable dresses made from Elephant's and Elegant's MORI dress pattern. They are the sweetest!

Over the next while, I'll be posting other dresses and clothing made with Sommer Fabrics. It's been so amazing to see so many amazing outfits for children as well as adults:) If you are on Facebook or Instagram, follow #sommerdresschallenge or #sommerfabric or #sarahjanessommer to see more! It's been such a pleasure!

Happy sewing everyone:)
